Nitto Truck Tires

Few brands have as much off-road credibility at Nitto. While not exactly a household name when it comes to passenger car tires, the Japanese brand has earned its reputation for building extremely capable, durable and long-lasting tires. In fact, Nitto has been so successful over the years that it was purchased by Toyo Tires, adding to that brand’s portfolio.

Offering close to a dozen different truck tires as a part of its Grappler lineup, here are five of our favorite Nitto Truck Tires.

Nitto Mud Grappler

Few tires look as capable as the Nitto Mud Grappler. Rather than being billed as all-terrain or even mud-terrain tires, Nitto prefers to call them Extreme Mud Terrain tires – and for good reason.

The offer outrageous levels of grip thanks to huge treads and plenty of open space between the treads, to allow the tires to dig in and toss-aside the mud, dirt or gravel.

They are also extremely durable thanks to the three-ply polyester sidewall.

Terra Grappler G2

The second generation of Nitto’s multi-purpose Grappler, the G2 takes what was so well-loved about the original and amplifies it.

With even more options and even two different sidewall designs, there’s a Grappler G2 for pretty much every truck. And for good reason, with the tire’s awesome off-road capability.

Not only is it properly capable, but it’s actually a tire you can live with every day. It boasts a quieter ride and a 65,000 mile treadwear warranty – 50,000 miles for LT versions.

Trail Grappler

One of the highest rated tires on this list the Trail Grappler is proper mud-terrain tire, that’s several steps more livable than the Mud Grappler. True, it’s not as capable, but it’s still excellent and offers enough other features to make it a quality all-round tire.

The four-tread patter has good voice spaces between it to deliver lots of off-road grip in mud, lose dirt and gravel. Like the Mud Grappler it does also come with a 3-ply sidewall to make it seriously durable.

Of note, it’s 36% quieter than the Mud Grappler and offers a more comfortable ride.

Ridge Grappler

It’s hard to find a better-rated tire than the Ridge Grappler. A mid between an all-terrain and mud-terrain tire, it combines so much of what makes the Trail Grappler and Terra Grappler G2 so good.

Basically, this tire has everything. It comes with stone-ejectors built into the tread pattern – itself designed to offer amazing off-road grip while delivering solid stability for on-road driving. In fact, the Ridge Grappler has quality dry and wet grip on-road.

Available in 16-inch to 24-inch sizes, we can’t recommend this tire strongly enough.

Nitto Dura Grappler

The top rated tire on this list of our favorite Nitto truck tires, there are specific reasons to recommend (and not recommend this tire). If you’re looking for long life and more of an on-road tire, this is your best bet. It comes with a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty and will likely last well beyond that. Truly, it’s less of a “truck” tire and more designed for modern crossovers and compact SUVs.

It’s comfortable and the quietest on this list.

So what is it lacking? Easy: true off-road performance. While it’s still a part of the Grappler lineup and lives up to certain standards, if you’re tacking anything more than a dirt or gravel road, we suggest one of the other tires on this list.
