Pirelli might be known best for its involvement in Formula 1 or for equipping tires on high-performance or exotic sports cars, but the brand is more than that.

While versions of the P Zero line are designed for high-performance SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne or BMW X5, the Scorpion tire offers 12 different versions for different trucks and SUVs. For maximum off-road performance look to the Scorpion All Terrain Plus, which is designed for everything from mud and grass to rocks and sand. Plus, it’s an all-weather tire as well. The Scorpion ATR is an all-terrain tire that punches above its weight when it comes to on-road performance – something you might expect from a Pirelli tire.

Are Pirelli Tires Any Good?

Pirelli engineers some of the world’s finest performance tires, though when you compete in that segment, the competition is fierce. The Italian tire brand is generally regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious high performance tire manufacturers and its tires come equipped on some of the best-engineered cars in the world from brands like BMW to Ferrari.

On the performance tire side, Pirellis offer some of the best handling and top predictability of any tire on the market, though Michelins are often regarded to be slightly ahead.

When it comes to Pirelli’s truck and SUV offerings, the tires tend to be a little more sport or on-road focused with less off-road grip. This can be seen as a negative, but is also ideal for most real world use, knowing that a Pirelli might not be the ideal choice for a Ford F-150 but very well would be for a BMW X5.

PROS

  • Fantastic handling
  • Handling predictability
  • The latest low rolling resistance and eco tech features
  • Wide selection of options

CONS

  • Expensive
  • Short tread life
  • Wet handling could be improved
  • Truck/SUV tires are more on-road focused

How Long Will Pirelli Tires Last?

The tire life of a Pirelli tire will change drastically depending on the type of tire. Pirelli does offer a mileage warranty on many of its tires. This number is less of a specific warranty and more of guideline for how long they expect that tire to last. Ratings for factory warranties range wildly from 35,000 miles to 90,000 miles and your own experience will depend on how hard you drive your tires, how well you keep them inflated and if you follow regular tire rotation procedures. Below we’ve listed those options that do come with a specific warranty to give you some guidance.
