One of the coolest-looking and most fun-to-drive compact crossovers out there, your Mini is only as sporty as its tires.
So if you’re shopping for new rubber, we’ve put together a list of the best Mini Countryman tires in different categories including the best all-season tires, the best high performance all-season tires, the best summer performance tires as well as a few other options for long life and for winter.
Below are the trim levels for the Countryman as well as the tire sizes available for each trim from the factory.
Best All-Season Tire for Mini Countryman
If you’re hunting for added tread life from a set of tires and are ok sacrificing some of the performance you might be used to on your Mini, then here are some solid choices. First among them is the General Altimax RT43 which has a tread life warranty of 75,000 miles and otherwise performs admirably with an excellent mesh of all-season grip, highway comfort and enough sporty driving dynamics to make it worth your while.
The Toyo Extensa AS II promises the same 75,000 miles of tread life though its decidedly more focused on ride quality than on driving dynamics. It is, however, noticeably cheaper and does perform well in the wet.
A third option is the Yokohama Avid Ascend GT, which is rated to last fewer miles (65,000) but comes with improved driving dynamics. It also comes at a cost premium. If you are looking for more performance-focused tires, we suggest you check out our list of high-performance all-season tires below.
And finally as a unique option there’s the Michelin CrossClimate2. This tire is actually certified for true winter use (unlike most all-seasons) and performs well in the summer months too. So you can run it all year round with confidence.

Best High Performance All-Season Tire for Mini Countryman
For drivers in search of excellent driving dynamics, these options for high performance all-season tires will closely match or improve upon the grip your Mini has from the factory.
First up is an expensive but impressive tire from Michelin, the Pilot Sport AS 3 Plus. All-season grip and an impressively grippy ride, it’s out top pick, but it’s also the most expensive.
As a very close runner up, we love the Bridgestone Potenza RE980 AS.
Two tires that offer a slight drop in performance but which cost significantly less are the Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus and Toyo Proxes Sport AS.
The Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 offers superior cold weather grip, but only when new and it does trail off as the tire wears. The summer grip does not, however.
And finally, the Goodyear Eagle Sport AS ROF is a very impressive performer (it comes equipped on the Countryman from the factory) and comes as a run flat. It does, however, cost almost $100 a tire more. For those not interested in spending that much, you can save by opting for the non-run-flat here.

Those looking for added performance at a more affordable price point should also check out the two options below.
Best Summer High Performance Tire for Mini Countryman
It’s not surprising to see a Michelin at the top of our list for the best performance summer tires for any vehicle. The Pilot Sport 4S is a fantastic option to bring your Mini’s built-in handling capabilities to life. Unlike the other tires on this list it actually comes with a tread life warranty. It does, however, cost roughly 25% more than the others.
If that price point is just a bit too rich for your blood, then the Bridgestone, Yokohama and Pirelli options that follow are all extremely equal in terms of performance and price.
Our final option, the Toyo Extensa HP II, doesn’t really live up to the performance benchmark of the other tires listed here, but it is significantly cheaper.

Where can I find the best price on tires?
There is no one answer to this question unfortunately. Sites like Tire Rack and Discount tire offer deals all the time on specific brands. You can also find deals on Amazon though they are much harder to find and often only apply to a specific size or group of sizes. Visit our Tire Deals page for more info.
When is the best time to buy tires?
It’s common that many shoppers buy tires once its already too late. At that point you don’t have a lot of choice and can often over-pay. If you’re planning ahead, generally, retailers offer significant tire deals around major holiday weekends (especially in the summer), as well as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
How much is Shipping?
Shipping is often included when you purchase tires online. Many retailers offer free shipping if you get your tires shipped to an installer that they recommend. Even if you ship to your home, Tire Rack offers free shipping on purchases over $50. And if you’re buying new tires, that won’t be hard.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping can take just a few days, or over a week in the worst cases. Often it depends on where you live. anyone in a larger urban center or living closer to a tire distribution center can get them quite quickly.
Does anyone offer mobile tire installation?
Depending on where you live, there may be numerous local mobile tire installers available. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of tracking one down, TireRack offers its own service. You don’t even have to purchase tires from TireRack to use it.
While it’s more expensive than bringing your tires to the shop, it’s also a lot more convenient. Prices start at $25 per tire.
How much does it cost to install a tire?
Generally you’ll pay between $25 and $50 per tire for installation services. This includes mounting and balancing, while using the latest tools so your rims don’t get scuffed or scraped.
Do I need to replace the tire pressure monitoring system when I change tires?
It’s not necessary to replace TMPS sensors when you change tires, but you may want to consider it. The units can fail over time due to damage or corrosion. Also, most units contain a battery and as a sealed unit, they must be replaced when the battery wears down. While most tire installers will handle sourcing these parts for you, you can also buy your own here.
Do online tire retailers offer rebates?
Absolutely! In fact, rebates are offered by most brands (even premium ones). Often these incentives are offered with other deals including up-front discounts and credit card offers.
