Best Rivian R1T Tires

Best Rivian R1T Tires

One of the hottest new electric vehicles on the market, if you’re looking to swap out the factory tires for something different, we’ve compiled a list of options to choose from.

Of note, as the R1T is so new, and it comes in unique tire sizes, there are not currently very many options. And in many cases opting for the same tires that came on the truck from the factory is a good choice. We should also point out that, currently, not all tires below are available for all wheel sizes.

Rivian R1T Tire Sizes

Below are the three different tire sizes available on the R1T from the factory.

  • 275/60/20
  • 275/55/21
  • 275/50/22

Best Tire for Rivian R1T

Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season

Equipped from the factory on some versions of the R1T, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season combines the optimum levels of performance, ride comfort, tread life and all-season traction. It is also designed to optimize drag, reducing rolling resistance and optimizing efficiency.

The tread is designed with plenty of extra biting edges for maxim grip in the wet and mild wintry conditions. Plus, those same serrated tread blocks are reinforced with thin yet solid circumferential bands that help deliver a more dynamic driving experience than most in this segment – just what you’d expect from a Pirelli.

You can also find these tires in a run-flat option here.

Best All-Season Tire for Rivian R1T

Michelin Defender LTX MS

Less engaging to drive than the Pirellis above, if you’re looking for an edge in winter performance, this Michelin has you covered.

Even a quick examination of the tread reveals densely-packed sipes that work to optimize grip in the cold and on snow. As far as all-seasons go, these offer more winter grip than almost anything on the market. In fact, the Defender LTX MS has made a name for itself on this one trait alone.

Beyond that, you get a refined ride, both in terms of comfort and low noise.

The tread life is anticipated to be 70,000 miles, which is quite impressive. This is due in part to Michelin’s Evertread Compound, which is designed to hold up longer – and in this case makes an ideal pairing to a heavy battery-powered truck.

Best All-Season Tire for Rivian R1T (alternative)

Yokohama Geolandar HT G056

Another solid choice for the R1T, the Yokohama Geolandar HT G056 delivers excellent value and puts its focus on wet weather grip. Again, if sporty driving dynamics are your top priority, the Pirellis above really are a top choice (or opt for the even more performance-focused Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season).

These tires make use of a silica and orange oil compound that Yokohama has developed to give an edge in wet conditions, while not giving up anything in the dry and in terms of tread life. And speaking of tread life, these tires do feature a long 70,000 mile warranty.

The shoulder blocks are reinforced for improved handling, while this feature also worked to maintain even wear and keep tread noise to a minimum.

Best Winter Tire for Rivian R1T

General Grabber Arctic LT

One of the very first winter tires available for the R1T, the General Grabber Arctic LT is designed for use on heavy duty pickup trucks and therefore can handle the added weight of this electric unit.

It offers a tread compound that stays flexible in cold temperatures, while still being durable enough that it won’t wear down prematurely.

With a wide footprint and plenty of siping there’s excellent grip on snow covered roads, while the tread blocks are positioned to help evacuate slush from underfoot.

For those seeking maximum grip, this tire is also studdable.

What Tires Come on the Rivian R1T?

Below is a list of each available wheel size on the R1T truck and the specific tire equipped to that trim.

  • 20-inch Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus
  • 21-inch Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season
  • 22-inch Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season
