The XC60 changed Volvo forever. Now its most popular model, the XC60 pushed the brand into a new era of handsome crossovers packaged with all the great features the brand has always been known for. That includes the latest safety innovations.

If you’re on the hunt for the best Volvo XC60 tires, we’ve laid out a list of our top choices for winter, summer and all-seasons, as well as other top choices based on everything from performance, to warranty, to price.

Best Volvo XC60 Tires

  • T6 235/55/19 or 255/45/20 or 255/45/21

What Tire is Best for the Volvo XC60

Best Volvo XC60 Tire

Continental Cross Contact LX 25

A performance all-season that delivers a luxurious ride, there’s a lot to like about the Continental Cross Contact LX 25. Overall, handing is engaging and fitting for a premium SUV. Braking performance in both the dry and wet is some of the best you’ll find in this class of tire.

In addition, it comes with a 70,000 mile tread life warranty and when you consider all these factors it is very reasonably priced.

We think this tire meets the practical demands of most shoppers in terms of all-weather grip, safety, tread life and price, while adding in enough sporty performance to suit a premium crossover like the XC60.

Best All-Season Tire for Volvo XC60

Goodyear Assurance Weather Ready

You’ll pay a premium for this tire, but for many Volvo owners they’ll see the value. Rather than a conventional all-season, this tire truly is designed to perform in all seasons, including winter.

With the three-peak mountain snowflake logo on the sidewall you know this tire is certified for extreme winter use.

It also offers excellent performance in other seasons. Normally the smaller serrated tread blocks required for winter capability make for a poor tire in dry summer conditions, however, Goodyear designed a tire where the tread blocks lock together in hard cornering or braking to add stability to the tire.

As for wet weather, the tread on this tire actually wears away to make the water evacuation channels wider as the tire wears, allowing for consistent grip and performance mile after mile.

A 60,000 mile tread life warranty is also included.

Best Winter Tires for Volvo XC60

Bridgestone Blizzak DMV2

One of our favorite winter tires, the Bridgestone Blizzak DMV2 is a superior performer in snow. The ultra wide center section allows for incredible stability and handling on snow-packed roads, while the shoulder tread blocks even feature siping on the sides to help cornering capability in deeper snow. Plus, that center tread section makes use of sipes that run in every direction for maximum handling capability. And in winter, maximum handling means maximum safety.

Best Summer Tire for Volvo XC60

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV

If you want to take your XC60’s handling and performance to the next level there’s no better way to do that than with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tire. Fancy tires, don’t come with fancy tread designs. At least not to the naked eye. This tire looks shockingly simplistic with numerous wide ribs in the middle of the tire to make for excellent responsiveness, fantastic braking performance and loads of grip. The shoulder tread blocks are also extra wide to handle the weight of an SUV, with an added rib next to them for maximum rigidity.

Grip is truly world-class. Pricing isn’t all that unreasonable either, although if you put a lot of miles on your machine, you’ll be replacing these relatively frequently. They’ll last beyond their 20,000 mile warranty, but not a lot more.

Best Run Flat Tire for Volvo XC60

Bridgestone Driveguard

There are several available run flat tires you can equip your XC6 with, but most don’t offer any warranty. And that rest don’t offer as significant a one.

Bringing together decent handling and a luxurious highway ride, the Bridgestone Driveguard adds a 60,000 mile warranty.

Longest Lasting Tire for Volvo XC60

Goodyear Assurance MaxLife

More miles than any other tire. If long life is what you’re after the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife tire has found the automotive fountain of youth. These tires are guaranteed to last at least 85,000 miles.

Beyond that, they’re reasonably grippy, as well as both comfortable and quiet on the highway. Priced quite affordably, they’d be a solid choice if they didn’t have an industry leading tire life. But they do!

Cheapest Tire for Volvo XC60

GT Radial Touring VP Plus

We can’t think many Volvo owners are out there looking for the absolute cheapest tire they can find, but if you are, the GT Radial Touring VP Plus is it.

The most affordable set of performance all-season tires, dry weather grip is actually decent, although wet weather performance is somewhat lacking.

Costing not much more than $110 per tire, they do come with a decent 50,000 mile tread life warranty.

Best Budget Tire for Volvo XC60

Falken Pro G5 CSV

If you’re looking to save on a set of XC60 tires but want value without just going to the cheapest tire available, we recommend the Falken Pro G5 CSV. Custom made for modern utility vehicles, this touring tire favors highway miles and eats them up comfortably and quietly.

Costing about 25% less than the premium options on this list, it comes with a rather good 60,000 mile tread life warranty.

Additional Volvo XC60 Tires to Consider

Michelin Defender LTX MS

Yokohama YK-740 GTX

Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season

Kumho Solus KL21

Falken Wildpeak AT Trail

What Tires Come on the Volvo XC60?

Numerous different tire brands and types come equipped on Volvo XC60 models from the factory and the tire type depends significantly on the size. XC60s running 18- or 19-inch wheels come fitted exclusively with Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season tires. Models running 20-inch tires get either the Continental Cross Contact LX Sport or Michelin Latitude Sport 3, the latter of which is extremely performance focused, expensive and lasts only about 20,000 miles. Finally, models equipped with the largest 21-inch wheels get either Pirelli P Zero PZ4 ultra high performance tires, which should also only last about 20,000 miles, or the Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season tires, which are designed for performance SUVs but still offer all-season capability and decent tread life of around 45,000 miles. Many of these tires can be had a run-flats or not.

Tire Buying FAQ

Where can I find the best price on tires?

There is no one answer to this question unfortunately. Sites like Tire Rack and Discount tire offer deals all the time on specific brands. You can also find deals on Amazon though they are much harder to find and often only apply to a specific size or group of sizes. Visit our Tire Deals page for more info.

When is the best time to buy tires?

It’s common that many shoppers buy tires once its already too late. At that point you don’t have a lot of choice and can often over-pay. If you’re planning ahead, generally, retailers offer significant tire deals around major holiday weekends (especially in the summer), as well as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

How much is Shipping?

Shipping is often included when you purchase tires online. Many retailers offer free shipping if you get your tires shipped to an installer that they recommend. Even if you ship to your home, Tire Rack offers free shipping on purchases over $50. And if you’re buying new tires, that won’t be hard.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping can take just a few days, or over a week in the worst cases. Often it depends on where you live. anyone in a larger urban center or living closer to a tire distribution center can get them quite quickly.

Does anyone offer mobile tire installation?

Depending on where you live, there may be numerous local mobile tire installers available. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of tracking one down, TireRack offers its own service. You don’t even have to purchase tires from TireRack to use it.

While it’s more expensive than bringing your tires to the shop, it’s also a lot more convenient. Prices start at $25 per tire.

How much does it cost to install a tire?

Generally you’ll pay between $25 and $50 per tire for installation services. This includes mounting and balancing, while using the latest tools so your rims don’t get scuffed or scraped.

Do I need to replace the tire pressure monitoring system when I change tires?

It’s not necessary to replace TMPS sensors when you change tires, but you may want to consider it. The units can fail over time due to damage or corrosion. Also, most units contain a battery and as a sealed unit, they must be replaced when the battery wears down. While most tire installers will handle sourcing these parts for you, you can also buy your own here.

Do online tire retailers offer rebates?

Absolutely! In fact, rebates are offered by most brands (even premium ones). Often these incentives are offered with other deals including up-front discounts and credit card offers.
