Bridgestone Alenza 001 Review

A high quality summer performance tire that can be had for a very good price, the Bridgestone Alenza 001 makes for an attractive replacement option for premium SUVs and a summer performance option for those looking to improve the handling of their vehicle.

PROS

  • High quality driving dynamics
  • Loads of dry grip
  • Excellent pricing (on some versions)

CONS

  • Limited selection of sizes
  • Some sizes are overpriced
  • Not suitable for all seasons
  • Short life

A street/sport truck tire, the Alenza 001 is a dedicated summer tire. That means it offers significant grip, especially in the dry. The single band of rubber in the center of the tread makes for immediate turn-in response, while the extra wide shoulder sections allow for predictable handling through the corner. Overall, this tire has a large contact patch and grips impressively well.

Of note, it is a factory fitment option on some trim levels of the BMW X3 – an SUV (and a brand) known for its driving dynamics.

We should point out that the tire does not come with a expected tread life from the factory and based on the low UTQG rating of 300 we anticipate these tires will last roughly 35,000 miles. That’s not long, but for a summer tire like this, and for their high level of performance, it’s not unusual.

Wet weather grip is also quite high.

Grip in colder temperatures drops off dramatically, however, and these tires are not intended for use in winter, or on snow/ice – regardless of if your vehicle has AWD/4WD.

Combined with high performance, these tires are impressively comfortable (as you’d expect for an OEM option) with enough flex in the sidewall to still offer a luxury ride – while delivering the high level of handling. Noise is also extremely low.

A surprising feature of the Alenza 001 is that some versions are extremely well priced, especially for the 19-inch fitments. Bridgestone is phasing out this tire, and while that does mean there’s something newer and better on the horizon, it also means you can get quite an impressive bargain on some excellent performance tires right now.

Bridgestone Alenza 001 Price

Pricing for the Bridgestone Alenza 001 varies rather significantly despite there not being a large differentiation in sizes. Some 19-inch sizes start at a very attractive price of just over $100 per tire while the lone 20-inch size retails for over $300.

Bridgestone Alenza 001 Warranty

The Bridgestone Alenza 001 does not come with a specific tread life warranty. Bridgestone does back it with a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. And as with all Bridgestone tires it’s covered by the brand’s limited warranty that includes free replacement for the first three years for any defects, followed by a pro-rated replacement down until the final 2/32-inch of tread life.
