A premium all-season tire in all respects the Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack delivers both performance and a luxurious ride, although we do have one complaint.
- Exceptionally quiet
- Impressive dry and wet traction
- Long tread life promised
- Winter grip is just ok
- Unusually high number of complaints around premature wear
To dig into what makes these tires unique, lets look at noise volume. The Turanza QuietTrack promises big in its name and it definitely comes through in the real world.
Toss a set on any car and you’ll notice the significant improvement, even over other tires you didn’t realize were noisy. Once installed, the reduction in noise volume is dramatic.
There are numerous reasons for this. Obviously Bridgestone put significant effort into designing a tread pattern that’s quiet, with tread block sequencing that helps to actually cancel out other frequencies generated when the tire moves along the road, and when it’s cutting through the air.
One particularly unique feature that really makes the difference on these tires are the ridges you can see inside the grooves. This pattern significantly reduces road noise, plus it continues to operate during the life of the tire. Even as the face of the tread wears and changes over time, these grooves stay protected until the tire is completely worn, maintaining the same low noise levels across the life of the tire.
Moving on to the rest of the features for this tire, it’s far more than just a one trick pony.
Performance for an all-season option is quiet high, both in the dry and wet. Despite a high 800 UTQG rating and a “harder” rubber compound, it delivers sporty driving dynamics. By using exterior tread blocks that are divided up into three long sections the tire can deliver cornering grip and stability in the dry and wet – in the wet the slits between add more traction areas and help evacuate water.
The siping along the tread blocks adds even more traction areas in the wet and even provides some mild winter grip – though we’d still recommend proper winter tires.
In addition to all these high points for the tire, it offers an impressively long 80,000 mile tread life warranty. That’s at least 5,000 miles more than you’d expect to get out of a tire with this level of performance. But there’s also a down side.
Real world use shows that the mileage estimate is more than optimistic. While the issue isn’t universal, an unusually high number of owners complaint of premature wear. Thankfully with such a big number promised, even falling short means this tire does deliver decent life.
Is the Bridgestone Turanza QuietTrack Any Good?
Overall, with the exception of the mild disappointment around the tread life, this tire still delivers many years of use. And those years are high quality ones. A perfect match for premium machines (or an ideal solution to reduce road noise on other types of vehicles) you also get nimble handling and a luxury ride.
