Enkei RPF1

A go-to wheel for racers and aftermarket enthusiasts around the world, the Enkei RPF1 comes by its name honestly. That’s because Enkei is also a Formula 1 wheel supplier and uses the same split-spoke design in the wheels it supplies to the world’s premier racing series.

In addition Enkei supplies wheels to many of the world’s leading automakers including General Motors, Toyota and Honda.

As a part of Enkei’s Racing Series lineup of wheels, the RPF1 uses the latest alloy casting processes and meets the brand’s own Spec-E certification. As a testament to how serious Enkei is about wheels, they designed Spec-E certification to exceed the strength standards required by JWL and VIA.

In other words, these wheels aren’t just remarkably light, they’re incredibly tough too.

To achieve this Enkei uses MAT technology. What this involves is spinning the rim at ultra high speed just after the aluminum alloy is poured into the mold. This technology comes close to matching that of forged wheels while actually being roughly 10-15 percent lighter.

Specific design features of this wheel include the split-spoke design as well as the indented area where the bolts attach. This design isn’t just optimized for light weight but actually helps cool the wheel, which is important during high-performance or race driving.

How Much do Enkei RPF1 Wheels Weigh?

Depending on the size of the rim, weight changes dramatically. Enkei rates the RPF1 in a 14×7 size at roughly 8.4 bs while a more common 17×8-inch size weighs roughly 16 lbs.
