Falken Wildpeak A/T3W Review
Far more than just a great looking all-terrain tire at a budget price, the A/T3W’s long list of benefits start with its tread compound. Made of silica it’s built for long life and great wet weather grip (although LT tires don’t fare as well in the wet). The tread itself is also the deepest in the segment, making sure it grips great in snow and is resistant to hydroplaning.
The tread blocks themselves include small “steps” built into the tread that is designed to deliver stability and handling, while also acting as a stone ejector, to make sure rocks don’t get stuck in the tread – something that can cause uneven and premature wear.
Built for those who really use their trucks, the sidewall contains unique characteristics next to the rim that are designed to dissipate heat and keep the tire cool for maximum stability and longevity for those who tow heavy loads. Higher up on the sidewall are shoulder blocks in alternating sizes. These work to protect the tire (even when operating on low air) and give extra traction in loose dirt, sand or mud/snow.
Finally, the tread blocks contain plenty of sipes, which is part of the reason why this tire receives the Rubber Manufacturers Association’s Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake symbol, certifying it as a true winter tire.
More than just a tire for conventional trucks, the A/T3W also comes in a long list of sizes for modern SUVs and crossovers. If there are any drawbacks with this tire it’s that it’s not as aggressive off-road as some. However, it more than makes up for it with on-road manners.
Tread life is decent, though many newer tires in the all-terrain segment now offer longer tread life warranties. Still, for the price it remains an attractive option.
For the most part, you get what is promised here, with the 3W name indicating this tire’s stand-out features are its wear rating, its wet weather capability and its winter performance.

Is the Falken Wildpeak AT3/W good in snow?
Thanks to a silica-infused tread compound that’s designed to resist freezing, as well as zig-zag siping on the exterior tread blocks, the Wildpeak AT3/W offers solid winter traction. It’s not the grippiest all-terrain tire in the snow, but these features are enough for it to earn the three peak mountain snowflake logo on its sidewall, certifying that has achieved a minimum threshold for winter performance.
