Designed specifically for Crossovers and SUVs (hence the CS name), this tire joins the Goodyear lineup in addition to the standard Assurance Fuel Max tire. It’s relatively new, however, and one of its main drawbacks is the lack of sizes, with only four fitments available. Check online retailers for fitment options, however, because there’s a good change the standard version will work on smaller crossovers and SUVs and that you don’t need the specific CS version.
The tire has a unique tread design with five rows of treads that are all very different. The center rib helps for highway stability and initial turn in, while rows two and four (the ones right next to the center rib) are designed with what Goodyear calls “Dual Aquachannel” grooves, that work with the standard circumferential grooves to evacuate water and prevent hydroplaning.

This design, paired with a custom tread compound makes for a tire that managed to offer great traction and grip, without unnecessary drag (or friction). As a result, Goodyear claims this tire can save you up to 2,500 miles worth of fuel over the life of the tire and that’s a few hundred dollars at the pump at least.
For that reason alone we recommend this tire for drivers looking to improve their fuel economy and save a few bucks.

Goodyear Assurance CS Fuel Max Warranty
Goodyear backs the Assurance CS Fuel Max with a 65,000 tread wear guarantee. Beyond that it comes backed with Goodyear’s standard limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship for six years from the data of purchase. During the first year or first 2/32-inch of tread life Goodyear will replace defective tires free of charge. After that point and until the last 2/32-inch of tread life or until the six year limit, Goodyear will replace defective tires on a pro-rated basis, based on the amount of tread life left.
