Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 Review

One of the world’s premiere high performance tires for those who are looking to add amazing grip to their vehicle, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 is designed to help you get the most out of your machine.

PROS

  • Amazing dry weather grip
  • Fantastic feel and feedback

CONS

  • Can get very pricey

This ultra-high performance tire makes use of a unique and ultra-sticky tread compound to deliver superior grip in dry conditions. As a true performance tire it is designed for summer use only and should not be driven at or near freezing temperatures.

An asymmetric tread pattern is designed to maximize traction both in the dry and wet. A wide and uninterrupted band of rubber runs the length of the tire right in the center to enable immediate responsiveness to changes in steering. Large tread blocks on the shoulders make sure those immediate responses turn into quick changes in direction for the tire, with no complaints. This is due in part to the 3D Bubble Blade technology Goodyear uses, allowing its tread blocks to lock together, transforming the already substantial contact patch into even something larger.

Stiff sidewalls also work to ensure the tire grips hard in the corners, while the ride remains reasonably compliant.

Goodyear also went to great lengths to keep tire weight to a minimum, using technology inspired from its extensive involvement in motorsports, knowing that unsprung weight on a car is the enemy of performance.

You’ll notice that on ultra high performance tires the tread depth is always quite low and that’s true here. Due to the more sophisticated technology used in UHP tires they have an amazing ability to resist wearing out quickly, while the shallow tread depth delivers a tire tread that has less flex in it, meaning your vehicle responds more immediately.

A typical down-size to this shallow tread is hydroplaning. While the tire does make use of a tread pattern and material to help grip on wet roads, it is limited in its water evacuation capabilities in deeper water.

Some sizes are available with Goodyear’s SoundComfort technology, where an extra layer of sound absorbing foam is used inside the tire to reduce road noise.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 Price

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 Warranty

Goodyear backs the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 with a 45,000 mile tread life guarantee. It also comes backed by the 30 day Goodyear pledge. In addition defects in materials and workmanship are covered under a standard limited warranty. If any defect is found in the first year or first 2/32-inch of tread life (whichever comes first) Goodyear will replace the tire free of charge. After that point and down until the final 2/32-inch of treadwear, Goodyear will replace the tires on a pro-rated basis.

How Long do Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 Tires Last?

With that 45,000 mile warranty expect to get three years our of these tires provided you follow proper rotation procedures and keep the tires properly inflated. The level of performance driving you do will (obviously) also impact the life of the tread.
