CONS

  • No mileage warranty

Many of Goodyear’s Wrangler tires are made for a very specific purpose. And they do amazingly well at that. From the on-road focused Wrangler Fortitude HT to the off-road focused Wrangler Duratrac. But here is a tire that’s built to combine the best features of each, without giving up any capability or civility.

Using  unique tread pattern, the Wrangler UltraTerrain AT features a large center mesh of tread blocks with plenty of void space in between. This allows it to dig into loose surfaces while also providing stability, both on- and off-road.

Shoulder tread blocks utilize Goodyear’s TractiveGroove Technology, that are optimized both for gripping in mud and snow, as well as on rocks.

And unlike many all-terrain tires, snow grip here is excellent thanks to the in-tread siping and a custom tread compound that allows the tire to maintain its grip in freezing temperatures. As a result, it comes stamped on the sidewall with the three peak mountain slowflake logo, indicating this is a tire that’s rated for extreme winter use.

Getting on-road, the same tread pattern that’s built to self-clean off-road has been engineered for minimal road noise too. With no center-rib, the tire doesn’t have a great immediate turn-in, the those large shoulders make for surprising cornering, wile the wide center mesh does make for a comfortable highway ride.

That same design helps deliver an even contact patch so the tire wears well over time (although no specific tread wear guarantee is given), while the compound is durable enough to hold up against chips and chunking when used off-road.

Offered exclusively through Discount Tire, owners of the tire are extremely satisfied. Out of almost 1,000 reviews on Discount Tire, it’s rated a 4.6 out of 5 stars and comes recommended by 92.6 percent of owners.
