Hankook Kinergy 4S2 X Review
The Kinergy 4S2 X looks like very few tires out there and packs a unique combo of performance features too. In short, it’s an all-season tire that’s actually designed for all seasons.

Often referred to as a four-season tire, this is one all-season that is actually certified as a true winer tire and features the three peak mountain slowflake logo on the sidewall.
The unique v-shaped tread pattern is designed to force out water and slush while giving a large contact patch for summer, wet and winter grip. If you look closely, deep in those channels are actually tie-bars connecting the tread blocks, helping to give the tire its rigidity and handle the higher loads placed on it during summer driving.
Take another close look and you’ll notice that the angles tread blocks are actually divided up into smaller blocks, with those extra edges enabling more grip. And at the same time, the v-shaped blocks also contain plenty of sipes to help grip snow and provide traction.
The two larger channels that run the length of the tire actually feature a unique stepped design, allowing for a great deal of water evauation while, again, enabling a more robust tire structure so the Kinergy 4S2 X holds its form under dry weather cornering.
The shoulder tread blocks look more conventional for an all-season, though are smaller overall in size. Handling isn’t as good as a conventional all-season, but the tradeoff may very well be worth it to not have to worry about swapping tires. They are backed with a 50,000 mile tread life warranty. That’s not as high as you’d expect on a conventional all-season, however, most winter tires come with zero warranty.
These smaller exterior tread blocks do feature serrated edges to give an extra layer of grip in the snow when cornering.
Overall, the Kinergy 4S2 X manages to deliver impressive winter grip with minimal sacrifice in summer driving.

Pricing for the Hankook Kinergy 4S2 X ranges from just over $100 per tire for a 16-inch fitment to just under $250 for a 20-inch size.
Hankook Kinergy 4S2 X Warranty
Hankook backs the Kinergy 4S2 X with a 50,000 mile tread life warranty. In addition, a standard limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. Hankook will replace any defective tires for the first 2/32-inch of treadwear or first year of ownership, whichever comes first. After that point and until the six year mark, Hankook will replace defective tires on a pro-rated basis.
