Nexen Roadian CT8 HL Review
A budget-focused tire designed specifically for commercial vehicles, the Nexen Roadian CT8 HL does a lot, but doesn’t do anything particularly well.
- Great price
- Some off-road capability
- Good durability and holds up well to abuse
- Comes with roadside assistance
- Short tread life (expect around 40,000 miles)
- Wet grip is limited
Factory equipment on the RAM Promaster vans, this tire is built to take abuse, while saving you money on a work truck where compromises in ride quality and noise aren’t as critical.
The four tread rows with larger tread lugs make for a more robust tread section that can hold up reasonably well to use on a commercial van that’s only only quite heavy, but that also does a lot of start-stop work in urban environments. Tread life isn’t one of this tire’s true highlights, with anywhere from 40,000 to 50,000 miles (on the high end) expected, however, it can hit those numbers while undergoing the sort of abuse a commercial tire will get.
Three deep channels for water evacuation work well to prevent hydroplaning, although regular grip in wet weather is just passable. The many serrated divisions in the tire are designed for added traction in inclement weather and light winter weather. Again, as far as all-seasons go, performance is a bit underwhelming.
Designed for use on commercial vehicles, ride quality is a bit stiffer than a regular all-season tire, but it’s not going to draw any significant complaints. Similarly, noise quality is slightly elevated, but not to the point of being an issue.
Overall, these budget commercial tires get the job done and with discounts can be the right replacement for your work truck if the price is right.
Nexen Roadian CT8 HL Price
Pricing for the Nexen Roadian CT8 HL doesn’t change too much regardless of the size you select, starting at just around $125 per tire for the smaller 15-inch sizes and going up to $175 for the larger 16-inch fitments.
Nexen Roadian CT8 HL Warranty
Unlike most all-season tires, the Nexen Roadian CT8 HL does not come with a factory tread life warranty.
It does come with a 45 day or 500 mile free trial period. Plus Nexen offers three years of roadside assistance, so if you have a flat, they’ll send someone to change your tire or tow you to a service station.
