Yokohama Parada Spec-X Review

An impressive combination of all-season practicality with high levels of grip, the Yokohama Parada Spec-X is one of the very best all-season performance tires designed for trucks and SUVs.

PROS

  • Impressive grip
  • Nimble handling
  • Excellent wet traction
  • Available in some extra large sizes
  • Well-priced

CONS

  • Limited winter grip
  • Some sacrifice in ride quality (especially on lower profile setups)

The all-season performance category for truck tires isn’t a big one. Generally tires tend to be either top-tier Michelins or Pirellis, and cost a bundle, or they are dirt cheap options that either don’t deliver on their promise, or offer solid grip but wear our incredibly fast.

Then there are these Yokohamas.

Finding a sweet-spot of price and performance, the unique tread compound and layout results in great handling. The densely-packed tread sections make sure there’s a lot of rubber on the road, and large tread sections offer impressive stability under cornering. The shoulder blocks are also quite long, offering predictable cornering.

Turn-in response is immediate thanks to the twin tread ribs in the center of the tire. This design also allows for a heightened level of water-clearing, meaning hydroplaning is never an issue. All the other tread sections actually line up to form diagonal channels to help disperse even more water.

Beyond these features, the Parada Spec-X is incredibly quiet. A stiffer tire, especially in low-profile setups, there are some ride quality compromises here, but they are minimal.

Yokohama does seem to be catering to the aftermarket (wisely) with this tire as it comes available in some extra extra large 22- and 24-inch sizes. (Of note, those extreme sizes do get wildly expensive, but that’s not uncommon).

Cold weather grip and winter grip are quite limited, so we don’t recommend you run this tire year round in a climate that has true winter weather.

As for tread life, Yokohama doesn’t offer a warranty, but you can expect anywhere from 40,000 to 45,000 miles on a set, which is solid for such a performance tire on large trucks, which are notoriously hard on tires. This will vary significantly depending on how hard you use them though.

Overall, this tire combines high performance dry grip, with impressive wet traction, a solid tread life and a surprisingly affordable price.

How Long do Yokohama Parada Spec-X Tires Last?

While Yokohama does not list a specific tread life warranty for the Parada Spec-X, we anticipate a tread life of roughly 45,000 miles. This assumes proper inflation and rotation procedures are adhered to.
