Falken Ziex CT60 AS Review

PROS

  • Wet weather grip
  • Engaging handling
  • Solid tread life
  • Reasonable price
  • Good selection of sizes
  • Road hazard warranty
  • Some mild snow traction

CONS

  • Tread life could be a bit longer
  • Some tread noise

First up, let’s talk about traction. The silica-infused tread compound offers increased grip in the wet without compromising dry performance or long life. The three center tread rows also feature unique angled sections designed specifically for added wet and wintry grip.

And speaking of winter, additional features can be found on the shoulder tread sections to help. Noticeable are the zig-zag sipes, which work to grip snow and add some level of all-season capability when the white stuff starts falling.

Overall, this tire gets excellent marks for its wet weather grip, particularly under braking.

The entire tire is also engineered to last a long time and does come with a solid 65,000 mile tread life warranty. Some tires do deliver more, but generally they are significantly more expensive.

The external tread blocks are also robust and wear slowly, maintaining the high level of all-season traction for years to come. Each outer tread block attaches to the one next to it via a small bridge. The result is that impressive wear-resistance while enabling capable and predictable handling.

These same shoulder sections are also engineered to put plenty of rubber in contact with the road while flexing very little, adding cornering grip for high-riding crossovers. It’s actually surprising how much rubber touches the road here, and that it doesn’t impact wet performance.

Overall, this is an extremely versatile tire at a modest price. It even comes with a road hazard warranty that makes owning the tire stress-free. A true bargain.

How long does the Falken Ziex CT60 AS last?

Expect to get roughly 65,000 miles on a set of Ziex CT60 AS tires, assuming proper tire inflation over the life of the tire, as well as following the recommended tire rotation intervals.

Is the Falken Ziex CT60 AS good in snow?

The Ziex CT60 AS delivers modest winter performance. The shoulder tread blocks feature the brand’s 3D canyon zig zag sipes that work to trap snow, while the inner tread blocks contain numerous slats for extra biting edges. We’d rate these tires mid-pack for an all-season.
