General Tire Grabber AT2 review

A tough looking tire, the Grabber AT2 features an industry-standard five-row tread pattern with unique characteristics for impressive off-road grip. Rather than running in uniform lines across the tire, the tread blocks have an overlapping V-shaped design. This feature is designed to help the tire resist unnatural flexing of the tread, with the resulting benefit of longer tread life and more stable on-road performance.

An additional benefit of this new design is the tire’s low on-road noise, meaning it’s not hard to live with when you’re not off-roading.

Select sizes, but not all, meet the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and the Rubber Association of Canada’s (RAC) qualifications as a true winter tire. This is signified by the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake logo on the tire’s sidewall. These tires offer true winter tire grip and will hold up to winter climates in northern states.

Impressively priced for what you get, the Grabber AT2 delivers surprisingly good levels of off-road performance and comes in a wide selection of sizes for modern light-trucks, SUVs and crossovers.

Out of 220 user reviews on Discount Tire, 96 percent recommend this tire.

If you’re in search of even more off-road performance, we’d recommend looking at two other General Tire options, the Grabber A/TX and the Grabber X3.

NOTE: The General Grabber AT2 has been discontinued. While still available at many retailers, we recommend you check out it’s replacement, the Grabber ATX.
