An impressive all-season performance tire, the Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season may be marketed as more of a tire for luxury sedans or sports cars, but it’s impressively well-suited for larger trucks and SUVs.

For anyone looking to improve the driving dynamics of their truck, these tires certainly do the trick. The tread pattern has been engineered to maximize the tire’s contact patch with the road for optimum grip, while the tread compound offers plenty of raw grip.
At the same time, with a UTQG rating of 560 it’s not so soft that it will wear quickly – a balance one has to find with any performance tire.
Aiding this tire’s performance and it’s ability to work well on both large SUVs and trucks are the linked outboard shoulder blocks. Small connectors that attach the tread sections together allow the tire a heightened level of stability under acceleration, braking and cornering. This limited flex also goes a long way in extending tread life.
We should point out that while the tire comes with a 50,000 mile tread life warranty, the majority of owners seem to exceed that number.
Yet another performance-focused feature of this tire is its RaceWrap Construction Technology. Developed from Goodyear’s involvement in NASCAR, essentially the brand engineered a polyester sidewall that runs from the carcass under the tread, down and around the bead where the tire connects to the rim, and then back up under the steel belts in the carcass.This unique two-ply polyester sidewall maintains ride quality while offering a more robust sidewall that offers better overall responsiveness.
While helping further increase performance, it has added benefits on larger trucks and SUVs, by preventing the weight of the vehicle from forcing the sidewall to lean-under during cornering. As a result, these tires really do withstand use on trucks surprisingly well.
Wet weather grip is quite good thanks to deep circumferential grooves and lateral slots on the tread section. While an all-season performance tire, grip in the cold or wintry conditions drops off steeply, so we don’t recommend these for winter use – despite the fact that, technically, they can be run all year round.
Overall, these tires deliver what they promise and then some.
