Hankook Dynapro HP2 RA33 Review

Designed for performance in the dry and wet, Hankook designed the Dynapro HP2 RA33 tire specifically for the demands of modern crossovers and SUVs.

PROS

  • Wet weather grip
  • Dry weather performance
  • Attractive price point

CONS

  • Warranty could be longer

Made using a silica compound, this gives the tire an excellent ability to maintain its grip in the dry while also reducing rolling resistance and helping to save fuel.

Four large circumferential grooves run the length of the tire to evacuate water while sipes cut into the tread blocks run in the same direction and further help force water away from the contact patch. Providing a unique wet weather advantage, in the dry and under cornering loads, the tread blocks come together to add rigidity to the tire and provide a larger tread block surface for more cornering grip.

An extra stiff center tread block provides more immediate turn-in response. Dry weather grip is solid, although the tire’s wet-weather grip is more impressive.

As a tire designed for use on premium machines, Hankook designed this tire to be very quiet as well. Check-mark-styled lateral slits in the shoulder tread blocks are designed specifically to reduce tread noise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Hankook Dynapro HP2 tires last?

Expect that a set of Dynapro HP2 tires will last approximately 65,000 miles. This assumes you don’t abuse them and you do maintain proper tire inflation and follow regular tire rotation intervals as well.

Is the Hankook Dynapro HP2 good in snow?

Solidly capable for an all-season tire, the Dynapro HP2 offers plentiful siping and divisions in the tread to add some extra grip on snow. However, the tread compound itself isn’t designed for the coldest temperatures and will eventually harden up and lose traction. Better than many in the segment, we’d still recommend a proper set of winter tires.
