Maxxis Razr MT Review

Maxxis might be best known for its mud terrain tires, and with the Razr MT being their most capable mud terrain tire, you can bet it’s impressive.

PROS

  • Exceptional grip in loose surfaces
  • 40,000 mile warranty
  • Durable tire capable of withstanding abuse
  • Impressive selection of sizes
  • Solid pricing

CONS

  • Louder than some (really not a critique)
  • No 3-ply sidewall

The flagship of Maxxis’ mud-terrain line the RAZR MT takes the capability of the Bighorn MT-762 to the next level.

Of particular note is the tread pattern with plenty of void (space between the treads) to help grip even in the most slippery of surfaces. Those same treads are also designed to then let all that loose earth fly free, with stone and mud ejectors built into the base of the tread. These ribs then flex and force out anything that gets caught so the tire can grip optimally on the next rotation.

The RAZR MT was designed with features developed over decades of off-road racing and championship-winning trucks.

The tire compound itself is unique to the RAZR MT and uses a custom chemical mix to resist punctures. To aid in durability, it also gets a dual-cord casing with fibers that are intertwined to make it more durable and hold up over repeated abuse. What this tire doesn’t feature is a 3-ply sidewall which is common among mud-terrain tires.

Maxxis RAZR MT Price

The Maxxis RAZR MT is priced from just under $200 per tire. Retailers may sell for less.

Maxxis RAZR MT Warranty

The Maxxis RAZR comes with a 40,000 mile limited treadwear warranty, which is incredibly rare for a mud-terrain tire.

In addition Maxxis covers defects in workmanship and materials  over the first 50% of the tires life and will replace them if any faults are found in that period. After the first 50% of treadwear and up to the last 2/32nds, any detected faults will warranty a pro-rated replacement.

How Long do Maxxis RAZR MT Tires Last?

While almost zero mud-terrain tires come with a mileage guarantee from the factory, Maxxis does back the RAZR MT with a 40,000 mile warranty. To achieve this, you’ll have to avoid undue abuse, while also maintaining proper tire rotation and inflation procedures.
