Milestar Patagonia M/T Review

Extreme off-road performance without the extreme price!

PROS

  • Bargain price
  • Impressive 3-ply sidewall construction

CONS

  • Not as capable as some competitors
  • No mileage warranty (not surprising)

There’s a lot to like about the Milestar Patagonia M/T, not least of which is the tire’s price.

The tire itself is an aggressive off-road performer made for everything from mud to dirt to, well… lots of mud.

Built with massive tread blocks to dig into the ground, the equally huge spaces between them are designed to help eject mud and dirt. That same tread block design incorporates plenty of angles (to give it more edges to grip with) while plenty of sipes add to that benefit.

Further helping clear rocks or packed mud from the outside of the tire are stone-ejectors built into the base of the tire between the large tread lugs. Packed mud can really limit a tire’s grip, while caught stones can bring about uneven and premature tire wear.

The tire itself is made of a special compound designed to stand up to cuts and wear (It’s also built for wet-weather grip). We should point out that there is no mileage warranty, although this is not uncommon with mud-terrain tires.

For a discount tire, one of the best features has to be the 3-ply sidewall (on all but one size). 3-ply sidewalls are rare even amongst off-road tires, with only the most extreme options having this extra layer of sidewall protection against sharp rocks that can slice open the side of a tire and leave you stranded – no matter how good the rest of your truck is.

Milestar Patagonia M/T Price

Milestar Patagonia M/T mud-terrain tires retail starting from $150 per tire, which is significantly less than other mud-terrain tires. (While that is cheaper than you might expect, do note that the Patagonia M/T starts at a 15-inch tire, while most brands start their M/T sizes at 16- or 17-inches). The largest 20-inch sizes retail for around $400 per tire. Again, an extremely low price for a capable mud-terrain tire.

Milestar Patagonia M/T Warranty

While the Patagonia M/T doesn’t come with a milage warranty, it does come with a standard limited warranty. Milestar will replace any tires with faults in workmanship or materials for the useable life of the tread, within the first 6 years since original production or the first five years from the date of purchase – on pro-rated basis.

What Ply are Milestar Patagonia M/T Tires?

In terms of their load range, the Patagonia M/T offers a variety of capable options ranging from C1 to F2 with numerous Load E range (10-ply) fitments.

As for the tire’s sidewall, it makes use of a 3-ply structure for added protection against side punctures. This 3-ply setup also allows the tire to withstand being aired up and down repeatedly without impacting overall tire life.
