Nexen Roadian GTX Review

A tire designed for the changing automotive landscape, the Roadian GTX will go on sale in 2020, putting long life, comfort and affordability together in one package.

PROS

  • 70,000 mile tread life
  • Roadside assistance plan
  • Quiet and comfortable

CONS

  • Dry weather grip not as impressive as some

A premium all-season tire at what promises to be an affordable price (actual pricing hasn’t yet been announced but Nexen is known for competing in value segment), the Roadian GTX is a brand-new, purpose-built tire for today’s modern crossovers and compact SUVs.

Perhaps the tire’s biggest promise is long life, and to show their confidence in the tire, Nexen backs the Roadian GTX with a 70,000 mile tread life warranty. In addition, we’re also impressed that it comes with a three-year roadside assistance warranty if anything goes wrong.

Described as a grand-touring tire, the Roadian GTX fits into a special segment of all-season tires designed for a more luxurious ride. As a result, it’s custom-made with a tread compound and design to limit noise, while the tire’s structural makeup makes for optimum comfort.

To maximize the market for this new tire (a market that is already huge when you consider its almost entirely SUVs and crossovers now), the Roadian GTX has fitments and sizes to cover 90% of the crossover/SUV segment.

“Crossovers and mid-size SUVs are dominating the new and used car markets and we at Nexen Tire know these drivers need a top-tier tire solution at an affordable price point. That is why we developed the Roadian GTX,” says John Hagan, EVP of sales for Nexen Tire America, Inc. “Many families rely on a single vehicle for all their transportation needs, which causes additional mileage and the need for more tread life out of tires. The Roadian GTX not only delivers incredible tread life, it also provides superior ride-quality and overall reliability.”

Overall, we’re really impressed by this tire’s warranty and roadside assistance plan, showing how well Nexen trusts its products – and gives you an indication of how eager they are to grow market share and get new customers. That said, we just need to know the price before we can make a final judgement.

Nexen Roadian GTX Warranty

Nexen backs the Roadian GTX with a segment-leading 70,000 tread life warranty. Plus, it also comes with 36-months of roadside assistance.

All Nexen tires are backed by a factory limited warranty. Nexen will replace any tires that are deemed defective in terms of materials and workmanship within the first 2/32-inch treadwear or the first year (whichever comes first). After that period and until 6 years from the date of purchase, Nexen will replace defective tires on a pro-rated basis.

In addition, the Roadian GTX comes with a  45-day or 500-mile money-back guarantee, should you not be 100% satisfied with the tires.

And finally, another stand-out feature of the Nexen brand is their Road Hazard Warranty. Lasting for one year, Nexen will replace your tires if they are irreparably damaged with cuts, punctures or other issues as a result of things like nails, glass or potholes.
