Nitto Motivo Review

Offering high-performance handling in an all-season package for both sedans and utility vehicles, the Nitto Motivo performs at a high level for a very reasonable price.

  • Long tire life
  • Very affordable for the performance

CONS

  • Could use better wet traction
  • Some owners complain its a bit loud

Those looking for higher levels of grip for their vehicle, but who still demand all-season performance and a long tire life should give the Motivo serious consideration.

The unique tread design, paired with a silica-infused tread compound make for impressive grip in different situations. The center tread rib features larger notches for more traction in the wet, however, it’s still technically one long piece of rubber and as a result provides great highway stability at speed, solid turn-in response and impressive braking performance.

That Silica compound allows the tire to maintain grip in the wet while also offering impressively long tire life – up to and even exceeding 60,000 miles. We should out that wet weather grip is a complaint from some drivers, though the majority find no such issues, suggesting it could be more related to temperature or the water depth.

Exterior tread blocks are larger with fewer divisions, offering not just excellent grip through a large contact patch, but also excellent stability in corners. Interior tread blocks are smaller with more divisions, and are designed to better evacuate water.

Found between the sipes on tread blocks are small ripples that jut out. This closes the gap between the two sections of tread and serves to stabilize the smaller tread blocks in corners, further enhancing grip and responsiveness. As a result, the tire can offer increased wet weather grip without diminishing performance in the dry.

A unique feature of these tires are alignment indicators on the interior tread blocks. These small designs on the tread allow you to see if your tire is wearing evenly and can alert you to issues before they become more severe.

The only other drawback to these tires is that some owners do complain of louder than expected operation, though again most owners report no such issues.

Overall these made-in-the-USA tires offer impressive value for their high performance capability. And when you consider the lengthy 60,000 mile warranty, the choice is pretty easy.
