The Best Porsche Cayenne Tires

Maybe we shouldn’t have been surprised that when Porsche came out with an SUV, it actually handled like a sports car. Perhaps more surprising is that it’s genuinely off-road capable too. If you have the right tires.

And that’s really what it all comes down to, no matter if you’re looking for engaging handling, a quiet ride, winer capability or long life. Below we’ve put together a list of our top picks for tires for the Cayenne based on numerous factors. But first we should probably look at sizes.

Porsche Cayenne Tire Size

The Cayenne has long been available in a very long selection of trim levels with varying performance levels and, as a result, tires. For the purposes of the list below we’ve selected the mid-level Cayenne S which is available with the following tire sizes

255/55R18
265/50R19
275/45R20
295/35R21

That said, the tires below should all be available in these sizes. For the most part, if your Cayenne is a different trim level, the tires listed below should come in those sizes as well.

Best Tire for Porsche Cayenne

Yokohama Geolandar X-CV

As a performance all-season, but not a high performance all season tire you’d think the Yokohama Geolandar X-CV would be less impressive than many of the tires on this list, but that’s not the case. While it might not be quite as engaging to drive, overall grip when it comes to braking is exceptional, so it has safety covered off nicely. Made specifically for luxury and performance crossovers and SUVs, its quiet and comfortable too.

The tread wear mileage guarantee is a bit lacking at just 50,000 miles, but these tires are also surprisingly affordable.

Best Replacement Tire for Porsche Cayenne

Michelin Latitude Tour HP

As the saying goes: if it ain’t broke…

If you’re pleased with the factory equipped tires for your Cayenne, then it’s a easy and smart decision to get a new set when the old ones wear out. Many Cayennes came with Michelin Latitude Tour HP tire from the factory, offering an excellent balance of dry and wet drip, combined with ride comfort and quietness. These tires are also build with low rolling resistance in mind to help minimize carbon emissions and help you save a few dollars too. A 55,000 mile tread life guarantee is decent and pricing is middle-of-the-pack.

Best Replacement Tire for Porsche Cayenne (alternative)

Michelin CrossClimate SUV

A popular alternative to the Michelin’s above s the CrossClimate SUV. This tire sacrifices some overall tread life and some summer performance to enable the tire to have true four-season capability. Unlike many all-season tires, this one is actually certified for true winter use and sports the three-peak mountain snowflake logo to the sidewall. The tread pattern lets it really drip in snow and does an excellent job in dispersing slush. It’s also an excellent performer in the wet any time of year. You’ll sacrifice roughly 5,000 miles of overall tread life compared to the Michelin Latitude Tour HP, but then you won’t have to think about swapping tires twice a year.

Longest Lasting Porsche Cayenne Tire

Nitto NT421Q

These Nitto tires might look particularly sporty with their unique and aggressive tread design, but they’re actually some of the more conservative tires on this list. The tread design is there to maximize grip in wet and dry because the tread compound isn’t overly sticky and instead is designed for long life. As a result, these tires come with a guaranteed 75,000 miles of tread life.

Cheapest Porsche Cayenne Tire

Milestar MS932 XP+

There actually are some cheaper options, but we really don’t recommend them for a Porsche. The Milestar MS932 XP+ is significant less expensive than the other tires on this list and when you consider the size of tire you’re buying they are a serious bargain.

This ultra-high performance all-season tire might not not perform as well as any UHP tires, but for the price we think you’ll be pleased wth the grip it has and how much of the factory Cayenne driving dynamics it retains.

With solid wet weather performance we like that this performance tire comes with a 40,000 mile tread life guarantee.

Best All Terrain Tire for Porsche Cayenne

Falken Wildpeak AT Trail

Falken Wildpeak AT Trail Review

Yes there are more capable all-terrain tires out there. In fact, we’ll say up front that if you’re serious about off-roading, really serious, you should just go with the BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2. These Falkens are unique, however. They’re designed more for light off-roading, meaning they handle dirt trails and gravel roads excellently. They’re also built to withstand a lot of off-road use so they wont chunk apart quickly. In fact, we’re really impressed with their 65,000 mile tread life warranty and they have superior on-road driving dynamics to most all-terrain tires out there.

Best Performance Tire for Porsche Cayenne

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV

If your Cayenne is on the sportier side, chances re it came with a set of Continental SportContact 3s from the factory. Those are some impressive tires, but they’re not the best. If you want to not only retain that level of driving enjoyment but improve upon it, we highly recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV. With fantastic grip in the dry and wet, they make your Porsche drive like a Porsche. And unlike many UHP tires they do some with a tread life warranty. It’s only 20,000 miles, but it’s more than you get from many brands, especially for this level of grip.

    1. I have these fitted to my 2015 Cayenne V8 Diesel S. Cornering adhesion is excellent. I am a fairly ‘enthusiastic’ driver on bitumen and have never had any worries about belting the ‘f*ck” out of them. In addition, I just completed a day in the forest on steep and rugged, heavily rutted 4wd only tracks and the car never struggled once – these are a great tyre and no one should look past them.
