The biggest issue Vredestein faces is its awareness in the US. And the unusual name doesn’t really help either.
The Dutch company understands winter and with the Wintrac Pro offers one of the very best all-purpose winter tires out there.
What we mean by all-purpose it that it’s both excellently capable on snow covered roads and grips well on clear but cold roads.
An extra-wide center tread section delivers excellent high-speed stability (especially important for those German customers hitting up the autobahn). Extra wide shoulder blocks also make for ideal handling both on clear roads and snow-packed ones. Built to maximize steering response, the two large interior channels and directional tread pattern also work to evacuate water and slush quite effectively.
Heavily siped, as you might expect from a winter tire, the sipes run in different directions, curving with the outside tread blocks for maximum handling capability, while running lengthwise in the center tread section for maximum grip during acceleration and braking.
Using both resin and silica in the tread compound, the Wintrac Pro resists offers impressive wet weather grip and refuses to freeze up in colder temperatures. In fact, owners report being particularly pleased with this tire’s ability to resist even the coldest of temperatures.
Surveying user reviews, most read identically, with a user unfamiliar with the brand, taking a gamble on it and being wowed by just how good these tires are.
Apart from the unique name and lack of awareness in the US, we should point out that another possible drawback of this tire is its directional tread pattern. While that does give certain advantages on-road, it also limits certain tire rotation possibilities and as a result can limit your ability to prolong the life of a set.
Thanks to its European heritage it’s also made to deliver very low noise levels and excellent handling on dry roads. Vredestein Wintrac Pro Price
Pricing for the Wintrac Pro ranges from $125 per tire for a 17-inch fitment and goes up to just over $300 for a 22-inch or extra-wide 21-inch fitment.
Vredestein Wintrac Pro Warranty
As a winter tire, there is no mileage warranty on the Vredestein Wintrac Pro. It is backed by a standard limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship with a full replacement in the first 2/32-inches of treadwear, after which owners will be compensated on a pro-rated basis down to the last 2/32-inches of treadwear. The warranty applies for 8 years from the production date.
