We’ll say it and we’ll say it again, there’s really no topping the BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2. This tire sets the bar when it comes to off-road performance and durability. The off-road grip is just next-level and the shoulder design of the tires gives extra traction in loose surfaces and on rocks, and works particularly well when aired down.
Rather than go with a 3-ply sidewall and impact some of the on-road driving comfort of the tire, BFG invented its CoreGard Technology (taken from its race-wining Baja T/A KR2) that makes the sidewalls 20% tougher, helping prevent cuts and slashes out on the trail.

It’s not quite at the same level of grip as the BFGs, but the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S is a fantastic all-terrain tire with a few unique benefits that make it an attractive offering.
The five-row design allows for a more responsive on-road tire, with excellent water evacuation capability and wet weather performance. The zig-zag sipes on the tire help prevent rocks from sticking to the tread, which can prematurely wear tires.
This same feature allows the tire to grip the snow excellently and we find it’s cold weather and snow capability one of the very best amongst all-terrain tires. Needless to say, it’s certified for true winter use and has the three-peak mountain snowflake logo on its sidewall.
But perhaps the real difference-maker is the warranty, with a 65,000 mile tread life warranty making the slight lack in off-road performance compared to the BFGs a very reasonable trade-off.

Sometimes the tires an automaker puts on its vehicles from the factory are fantastic. And sometimes they’re so full of compromises that we want to swap them off right away. Now we’re not going to say Jeep picked the absolute best tires for the Gladiator when they went with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W (for most trim levels) but they did a pretty fine job.
These are impressive all-terrain tires with responsive and quiet on-road driving dynamics. They’re even reasonably sporty on-road and boast excellent grip under braking.
Plus, they come with a 55,000 mile tread life warranty.
They don’t really come at much of a discount compared to other all-terrain tires, so depending on current offers (there’s always some deals on tires) these could be your best option.

It’s not just one of the most extremely capable mud tires on the market, it might just be the most durable too. Every element of this tire is designed for grip in extreme situations. And while it’s large tread blocks and significant void spaces make it excellent at churning through mud and loose earth, it’s far more capable than that.
While MT tires are often referred to as Mud-Terrain tires, they are more accurately Maximum Traction tires. And here the KM3 delivers with a design and compound that’s also ideal for rock-crawling.

A dedicated winter tire, it makes use of a tread compound that resists freezing. This really helps give the tire excellent traction on frozen clear roads and icy roads too. The tread pattern is heavily siped to help snow stick to the tread blocks, using the snow as a traction surface against the snow on the ground.
