Best Tire for Jeep Wagoneer

Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3

Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 Review

An impressive tire that delivers everything you want for a high-end SUV, the Scorpion AS 3 Plus combines capability with performance and luxury.

One of the newest additions to the Pirelli lineup it’s designed specifically for the needs of vehicles in North America. That said, it’s built to hold up on larger SUVs and even offers a 70,000 mile tread life warranty.

Incredibly quiet, it’s also quite comfortable. All-season grip is ideal with circumferential grooves and a high volume of divisions on the tread to give extra traction. Full depth sipes also work to give some added grip in light snow.

And of course, being a Pirelli, it’s also designed for heightened performance, with a tread pattern that maximize the tire’s footprint on the ground for handling capabilities beyond what you’d find on most any all-season tires.

Best Tire for Jeep Wagoneer (alternative)

Michelin Defender LTX MS

The best reason to opt for these Michelins is their winter capability. While all-season tires all promise winter capability, few actually deliver on it. This one does.

The heavy siping on each tread block traps snow against the tire, using it as a traction surface to grip snow on the road. While we do always recommend proper winter tires, if you’re committed to not running any, then these will get you through winter with a superior level of confidence.

While all-seasons they the tread compound is engineered to withstand abuse, and these tires will hold up better when driven off-road. (Conventional all-seasons tend to chunk and break away rapidly, even with light off-rod use).

Best Budget Tire for Jeep Wagoneer

Firestone Destination LE3

Firestone Destination LE3 Review

Calling this a budget tire might be a bit too harsh. While it is cheaper than our top picks, it’s not significantly so. Nor does it deserve a big discount.

A newer offering from Firestone it utilizes the latest techniques to provide excellent grip in the wet, which is really its best feature. The large diagonal swooshes cut through the tread blocks work with the circumferential grooves to offer next-level water clearing to ensure a large contact patch. At the same time the silica-infused tread compound is able to offer an impressive wet grip all on its own.

Dry traction is fine, but nothing exciting, giving up some grip to more premium options. Tread life is surprisingly good, with a 70,000 mile warranty, making this an excellent value.

Best All-Terrian Tire for Jeep Wagoneer

Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S

cooper discoverer at3 4s review

There are more capable off-road tires, like the BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2 or the Toyo Open Country AT III. However, we believe the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S combines the best on and off-road package for a vehicle like the Wagoneer.

Using a conventional five row tread setup they are more civilized on-road than many rivals with now road noise and better handling. This arrangement also ensures a high level of on-road grip in the wet.

Like many quality all-terrain tires these days, they are three-peak mountain snowflake certified and can be used in true winter climates.

As for off-road grip, these tires perform at a high level – exceeding their relatively normal tread pattern. Plus, they are also extremely durable and will withstand prolonged use on dirt and gravel roads. They even come with a 65,000 mile tread life warranty.

Best Highway Terrain Tire for Jeep Wagoneer

Continental TerrainContact HT

An ideal midd-of-the-road tire, the Continental TerrainContact HT offers light off-road grip while retaining all the benefits of an all-season tire. This is an ideal option for someone who does light off-roading on occasion, but who is also looking for a luxurious highway ride – and for that reason we thing it’s an ideal fit for the Wagoneer.

Best Performance Tire for Jeep Wagoneer

Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season

For maximum performance, you may want to look at the Yokohama Parada Spec-X or Hankook Ventus ST RH06. However, we’d suggest those might be too extreme for most drivers and will wear far too fast.

Instead, the Goodyear Eagle Sport All Season combines high performance grip with longer life and superior grip in the wet. While this is an all-season tire, we don’t recommend running it in winter.

Helping this tire deliver its grip is, of course, a sticky rubber compound. The larger shoulder tread blocks also do a lot of work and feature small connectors between sections. This makes the tire flex less under acceleration, braking and cornering, delivering heightened grip when you need it.

Another innovation built into this tire is the RaceWrap Construction Technology sidewall. A feature brought over from NASCAR, a polyester ply wraps down the sidewall, around the bead and back up to the steel belts under the tread, creating a two-ply sidewall construction that ensures an extremely stable sidewall that doesn’t flex too much under hard driving. An ideal feature for any performance car, it’s also ideal on a large SUV like the Wagoneer.

Tread life is 50,000 miles, which is lower than other tires on this list, but a decent number for a high performance tire. (This tire is also a factory option for those who opt for the 22-inch wheels).

Best Winter Tire for Jeep Wagoneer

Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2

If maximum winter grip is exactly what you get with the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2. The ultra-wide center tread section packed with heavily-siped triangle blocks delivers world class grip on snow. The sipes grab onto the snow, trapping it against the tread for grip, while the direction of the blocks and sipes means you have traction in every direction. Plus, that wide design makes for impressive stability on snow-covered roads.

These tires grip the ice and cold/clear roads impressively, although their real stand-out feature is the grip on snow.

Apart from that, they wear well over time. You’ll pay a premium, but you won’t regret it.
