Best Mazda CX-3 Tires

Best Mazda CX-3 Tires

Like a Mazda 3 with a slightly raised ride height, the CX-3 gives Mazda a compelling offering the sub-compact crossover segment. This small utility vehicle stays true to Mazda’s core DNA of offering fun-to-drive machines.

For those in the market for new tires for their CX-3 we’ve put together a simple list of our top choices based off numerous categories, from performance and tread life, to ride quality and price. See the full list below.

Mazda CX-3 Tire Sizes

All versions of the Mazda CX-3 come equipped with a single tire size: 215/60/16.

Best Tire for Mazda CX-3

Continental Control Contact Tour AS Plus

Providing the best overall package for the money, the Continental Control Contact Tour AS Plus is a performance all-season tire that will help keep your little Mazda performing with that Zoom Zoom spirit. With such a heavily divided tread pattern and an incredibly wear-resistant tread compound we’re surprised these tires grip as well as they do.

They are also top performers when it comes to ride quality and low noise levels, plus they’re designed with Conti’s latest Eco Plus technology that reduces rolling resistance and helps save you fuel.

An 80,000 mile tread life warranty is quite impressive and the price point is more than reasonable.

Best Tire for Mazda CX-3 (alternative)

Goodyear Assurance Weather Ready

Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady Review

This tire from Goodyear is quite unique in the segment as it offers all-season performance for all seasons. What we mean is that while most all-season tires aren’t really designed for winter, this one is, and is certified for extreme winter use. As proof, it wears the three-peak mountain snowflake logo on its sidewall.

It’s also an impressive performer in all the other seasons too. Smaller tread blocks required to grip in winter normally hamper summer performance, but here Goodyear designed the blocks to lock together under heavy cornering loads, making for a sturdy tread design that’s responsive and engaging.

Wet weather performance is also a key attribute of this tire, and to ensure it performs that way over the course of the tire’s life, engineers designed he water evacuation channels to widen as the tire wears, to counteract the lack of tread depth.

A 60,000 mile warranty is lower than you might expect, but that’s the cost of true winter grip and not having to swap your tires twice a year. The other cost is, well, the actual cost of the tires. These do come in at a serious premium.

Best Budget Tire for Mazda CX-3

General Altimax RT43

There’s no sense in spending more than you have to and the General Altimax RT43 delivers solid performance in all areas at a price that’s solidly below the top picks on this list.

It’s a touring tire rather than a performance once, so overall handling is modest. On the flip side, while it is a more budget focused tire, ride quality and road noise are certainly decent, but perhaps not normally at the level we’d expect for a touring tire. This all sounds quite negative, but we’re just trying to set expectations. We do think this is a solid, well-rounded option with a decent warranty and an attractive price.

A quite note on the warranty: General Tire offers two speed ratings in this size, so be careful which on you select. V and H speed rated tires come with a 65,000 mile warranty while T rated tires get a 75,000 mile warranty.

Longest Lasting

Pirelli P4 Fourseasons Plus

An all-season tire that’s designed to deliver more grip in cold and wintry conditions the Pirelli P4 Fourseasons Plus features plenty of siping, with more edges to grip in the cold and on snow. It’s not a true winter-certified tire, however, so don’t expect too much from this tire. Dry performance is quite good, although, surprisingly, wet weather capability is limited. Two circumferential grooves are used to evacuate water from the contact patch, although they can get overwhelmed (many features feature four such grooves) and then braking in the wet deteriorates.

The real reason to opt for this tire is its incredible 90,000 mile guarantee.

Cheapest Tire for Mazda CX-3

Sentury Touring

At an incredibly low price you might not expect too much from these tires so in that sense they can be pleasantly surprising. Dry weather grip is decent and wet-weather braking capability is actually above average. A mostly solid center rib makes for decent turn in response and thick shoulder blocks help with grip in the corners.

Performance trails off quickly when the temperature drops, though, so as far as all-seasons go, they underperform in the winter and we’d really only recommend them if you live somewhere warm.

A 40,000 mile warranty is about par for the course. The price, however, is crazy cheap!

Best Winter Tire for Mazda CX-3

Bridgestone Blizzak WS90

It’s hard not to recommend a Bridgestone winter tire The Blizzak WS90 makes easy work of snowy conditions thanks to plentiful siping across the wide tread blocks. The thick center trip and angled siping give fantastic stability and response on snow-covered roads, and the wide v-shaped external tread sections continue to deliver. That same shape does an impressive job at clearing slush.
