What is the Best Tire for a Nissan Frontier?

Best Tire for Nissan Frontier

Yokohama Geolandar HT G056

An excellent combination of on-road civility mixed with light off-road grip, the Yokohama Geolandar HT G056 finds the sweet spot between a sportier all-season and a more off-road focused all-terrain tire. It offers competent light off-roading as well as on-road manners and driving dynamics that you’ll appreciate every day. And with a 70,000 mile tread life warranty, you’ll be appreciating them for days and days to come.

It’s also surprisingly affordable for such an excellent tire from a reputable brand. (That’s not a combination you see very often).

Best Tire for Nissan Frontier (alternative)

Hankook Dynapro HT RH12

hankook dynapro ht review

An alternative highway terrain ire, the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 is an extremely attractive option based rather significantly on its price. That’s not to say this tire is lacking in any other area though.

In fact, it rivals others in the segment with wet and dry grip, as well as ride quality. Noise is only slightly higher than top tier tires in the segment, although it’s so minimal, most will never notice.

It even matches the 70,000 mile tread life warranty. And it does it all for a lot less.

Best All-Terrain Tire for Nissan Frontier

BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2

If go-anywhere capability and durability are what you need, then look no further. The BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2 is generally acknowledged to be the very best all-terrain tire money can buy.  The only down side is that you need quite a bit of money to buy them, as these tires are pricey.

A unique tread pattern favors off-road grip over on-road driving dynamics, and this tire goes beyond its rivals in offering exceptional grip in any situation from dirt, to rocks and more. Heck, it even has some impressive mud-terrain capabilities (although it’s not a mud-terrain tire).

Equally impressive to this tire’s capability is it’s durability, with reinforced sidewalls that help it resist punctures.

A 50,000 mile tread life warranty is decent, and it’ll get you there even when you drive it hard.

Plus, some versions are also certified for true winter use.

Best All-Terrain Tire for Nissan Frontier (alternative)

Falken Wildpeak AT3W

cheapest off-road tires

If you don’t need the absolute best, and don’t mind saving a bundle, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W is a solid choice. Offering impressive off-road grip with very livable on-road driving dynamics and ride quality, it’s an extremely well-rounded all-terrain tire.

A warranty of 55,000 miles tops the BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA KO2, although by modern all-terrain standards its still on the low end. (We give the BFGs a bit of a pass on having such a low warranty because they’re just that good).

It’s also important to point out that the Wildpeak AT3W is certified for true winter use.

Best Budget Tire for Nissan Frontier

Laufenn X Fit HT

Another highway terrain tire, the X Fit HT is from Laufenn tire, a sub-brand of Hankook.

Undercutting the competitive highway terrain tire set by a significant margin it offers only modest drawbacks. Rather than having faults in any one area, the X Fit HT is sort of like a lite cola. It just has a little less of everything. On-road grip in the wet and dry and reduced slightly. Off-road grip isn’t quite as good. Overall driving dynamics are a touch shy of the competition. And the warranty of 60,000 miles is a bit off as well. This all sounds pretty disappointing, but for what you pay, it’s easy to see the value in these tires.

Cheapest Tire for Nissan Frontier

Corsa Highway Terrain Plus

If you’re not so much interested in value, but just the brass tax, then the Corsa Highway Terrain Plus might be the right tire for your Nissan Frontier.

Costing less than half of the top brands recommended on this list, dry grip and summer performance for this tire are solid enough, though wet weather grip falls short of ideal.

The 40,000 mile tread life warranty isn’t great, but for half the price of the rivals, you can afford to replace these tires more often. In fact, for how little they cost, the risk is pretty low.

What Tires Come on the Nissan Frontier?

Most versions of the Nissan Frontier using both 16-inch and 18-inch wheels come fitted with the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 highway terrain tire. The only exception is the PRO-4X trim level which comes with the more off-road-capable Hankook Dynapro AT-M tire.

Tire Buying FAQ

Where can I find the best price on tires?

There is no one answer to this question unfortunately. Sites like Tire Rack and Discount tire offer deals all the time on specific brands. You can also find deals on Amazon though they are much harder to find and often only apply to a specific size or group of sizes. Visit our Tire Deals page for more info.

How much is Shipping?

Shipping is often included when you purchase tires online. Many retailers offer free shipping if you get your tires shipped to an installer that they recommend. Even if you ship to your home, Tire Rack offers free shipping on purchases over $50. And if you’re buying new tires, that won’t be hard.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping can take just a few days, or over a week in the worst cases. Often it depends on where you live. anyone in a larger urban center or living closer to a tire distribution center can get them quite quickly.

Does anyone offer mobile tire installation?

Depending on where you live, there may be numerous local mobile tire installers available. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of tracking one down, TireRack offers its own service. You don’t even have to purchase tires from TireRack to use it.

It’s not necessary to replace TMPS sensors when you change tires, but you may want to consider it. The units can fail over time due to damage or corrosion. While most tire installers will handle sourcing these parts for you, you can also buy your own here.
