Crosswind 4×4 HP Review
If you’re looking for a tire that delivers agile handling for your crossover or SUV at a more affordable price point, the Crosswind 4×4 HP makes a compelling offer.
- Decent all-season performance
- Good summer grip
- Great price point
- Short tread life
This performance all-season tire is built specifically for modern crossovers, meaning it’s designed for the heavier weight, a taller body and the demand for superior all-season grip.
All of the interior tread sections feature plentiful amounts of siping and extra edges for wet and wintry grip, while the four circumferential grooves do their part to easily evacuate water from the contact patch and prevent hydroplaning.
Larger shoulder tread blocks help provide stable handling in corners, though for a tire focused more on handling, we have to point out that the divided center tread rib means turn-in response isn’t as immediate as it could be. To combat that, a sticker tread compound is used and it works quite well. Again, that can come with a down-side, namely, that overall tread life isn’t particularly long.
CrossWind pus a 40,000 mile warranty on the tires, which is pretty low. However, it’s hard to complaint too much at this price point.
Attention was paid on this tire’s tread design to use technology to help reduce road noise, using frequencies generated from some tread blocks to cancel-out the noise made by others.
Overall, the CrossWind 4×4 HP offers pretty decent performance and civility at a more-than-reasonable price.
