Falken Rubitrek AT Review

Offered only at select retailers the Falken Rubitrek AT is somewhat of a well-kept secret if you’re looking for an all-terrain tire with a touch more on-road focus for both work and play.

PROS

  • More on-road civility and driving dynamics compared to rival tires
  • Designed for towing, hauling
  • Solid tread life warranty
  • Winter rated

CONS

  • Slightly less capable than rival all-terrain tires

In many respects its very similar to Falken’s Wildepeak A/T3W tire, offering true all-terrain grip with real winter performance too. In fact, both tires come rated for extreme winter use by the USTMA and TRAC and feature the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake logo on the sidewall.

Using a slightly softer rubber compound, the Rubitrek AT should offer an edge in on-road grip. Perhaps the bigger difference maker, however, are the loner center tread lugs which make for a more stable highway drive and more responsive turn-in, helping cure some of the ponderous feel that some all-terrain tires can have.

That same feature is also going to result in a slight decrease in off-road grip compared to a tire like the Wildpeak A/T3W.

Another unique feature of this tire is it’s almost commercial tire-like features. Designed to be used hard on real trucks, that doesn’t just mean when you’re off-roading. If you need a tire that can also handle tough work on-road, from towing to carrying a hefty payload, Falken designed the tire with a secondary bead apex in the sidewall that works to dissipate heat more quickly and prevent heat-soak in the tire from wearing it prematurely. It also has the added benefit of giving the sidewall an extra layer of protection from punctures and cuts.

Falken Rubitrek AT Price

What Ply are Falken Rubitrek AT Tires?

In terms of their sidewall, the Falken Rubitrek AT is 2-ply. As for the tread surface, the tire is available in standard 6-ply as well as heavy duty 10-ply (Load Range E) options depending on the size.

Is the Falken Rubitek AT Good in Snow?

Yes! Thanks to a durable yet compliant tread, the tires don’t freeze up in the winter, while siping on the tread blocks offers real traction in the snow. As a result, this tire comes certified for true winter use and wears the three-peak mountain snowflake logo on its sidewall as proof of that certification.
