Hankook Dynapro AT-M FEATURES

For starters, Hankook designed the Dynapro AT-M with a reinforced carcass and thicker sidewalls, so you won’t run into any issues when off-roading.

Helping protect the tire is an extra layer of rubber designed into the sidewall, sitting just under the tire’s shoulder blocks. In addition, this design serves the dual purpose of giving an extra bit of grip in mud or snow.

The tread is designed to be roughly 8 percent wider than on comparable tires, helping it resist uneven wear, but also deliver more surface area for added grip both on-road and off.

As expected the tire features a tread design with stone ejectors, to help keep small rocks from becoming lodged in between the tread blocks and creating uneven wear.

One of the more unique tread designs that Hankook built in to the AT-M are tread blocks with several “steps” as they get closer to the base of the tire. As a result, when the tread is put under side loads, its able to keep more surface area touching the road, thereby maximizing grip.

Hankook backs the tire with a solid 50,000 mile tread life warranty, although many consumers report it lasting well beyond that.

If there are any drawbacks with the tire, it’s that it could be a little quieter, but for the off-road performance it delivers, the noise levels are completely in line.

Perhaps one of the tire’s best features is its affordability. Starting at less than $100 per tire, the Dynapro AT-M offers great value with solid performance.

For the first 2/32-inch of treadwear Hankook will replace the tire. For the remainder of the tread life until the final 2/32-inch, Hankook will pro-rate the tire.

How Long Does the Hankook Dynapro AT-M Last?

With proper tire rotation and inflation, a set of Dynapro AT-M tires is expected to last roughly 50,000 miles.

Are Hankook Dynapro AT-M Tires Good in Snow?

Increasingly, tire brands are offering true snow capability on their all-terrain tires and that’s exactly what the Hankook Dynapro AT-M delivers. The tire comes marked with the three-peak mountain snowflake logo on its sidewall meaning it’s been certified for true/extreme winter driving.

While not necessarily as capable as a dedicated winter tire, it does offer far superior grip compared to an all-season. In part this is due to the biting tread block edges and siping on each of those tread blocks allowing the tire to grip and hold onto snow, using it to grip against itself on snow-packed roads. The tread compound is also designed to better resist freezing so it can retain its grip in colder temperatures.

Hankook Dynapro AT-M vs AT2

The Dynapro AT2 is Hankook’s replacement for the older-generation AT-M. The new AT2 looks quite similar but offers a long lit of improvements. It offers superior off-road grip with more biting edges. Plus it’s computer-aided design makes it quieter riding. Plus it also gets a longer 60,000 mile tread life warranty (up from 50,000 miles). Both tires are rated for extreme winter use.
