Ironman All Country AT Review

One of the most popular offerings from Ironman Tires, the All Country AT is a go-anywhere tire at an attractive price.

PROS

  • 2 year road hazard warranty
  • Aggressive style
  • Great price
  • Solid off-road traction

CONS

  • No tread wear warranty
  • Road noise

NOTE: The IronMan All Country AT has been replaced by the All Country AT2. For more on that tire, see here.

For starters, budget focused tires like this don’t often come with any “style.” And while that’s a mostly subjective attribute, we think it’s still worth noting.

All AT tires have a pretty aggressive tread pattern, so what we’ll note here is the sidewall with bold lettering and an embossed graphic that serves several purposes. Along with adding to the look, it helps give an extra layer of sidewall protection to prevent cuts and slashes from rocks. It also helps give a slight increase in traction in loose surfaces (mud for instance) when the tire is in deep.

The tread surface itself features a conventional five rows of blocks and plenty of void space to not only dig into rough terrain but toss it away as well. The void space also helps to prevent rocks from sticking in the tread and causing premature wear. There’s also modest siping on the tires to give some added traction in the wet and in light winter weather.

An all-terrain tire should also be civilized on road. Here the longer center blocks help with highway stability, aided by the relatively compact rows two and four. And the tread blocks are so knobby so as to make them complain a lot in the corners.

There’s no high-tech noise cancellation technology used here and that is something you get on pricier tires to help minimize noise levels.

If there’s one area we’re unsure about with this tire is overall longevity, due to the lack of a milage guarantee. We would like to see some number of miles provided as a guarantee, even if it’s a low number (these are budget tires after all).

What we do love, however, is the road hazard guarantee (see warranty section below). No other brand offers a two year protection plan against the unforseen.

Ironman All Country AT Price

Pricing for the Ironman All Country AT starts at roughly $135 per tire for a 16-inch size.

Ironman All Country AT Warranty

The All Country AT is backed by Ironman Tires’ limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship for the first five years of ownership.

It also comes backed by the brand’s Road Hazard Protection Program, which they claim is industry leading and, to be frank, is so good we were shocked to read it. Essentially for the first two years of ownership or first 50% of treadwear (whichever comes first) Ironman Tires will replace the All Country AT free of charge if the tire becomes unusable due to potholes, punctures or other road hazards.
